Discrimination: Didactic material EU legislation

Discrimination based on race or ethnic origin is prohibited. The EU legislation discussed in this case shows the impact of EU rules in our society and the importance of the European parliamentary elections.

This story may deliberately bring controversy within the classroom. Equality and non-discrimination are important EU values, but so is freedom. How far does the freedom of the employer extend? Can he hire whomever he chooses? And is the customer king, even if he has discriminatory preferences? Provocative questions in this case invite students to think about the value of equality, the concept of discrimination and respect for diversity.
