Réparer les vivants: Lesson folder with the film

Early in the morning, three surfers head out to sea to brave the waves. On the way back they have an accident. Nineteen-year-old Simon Limbres is taken to hospital in a comatose condition, where the doctor finds that he is brain dead. He is kept alive by machines. His parents must quickly make a difficult decision about possible organ donation. At the same time, Claire, mother of two newly grown sons, has to face in Paris that her heart will not function for much longer. Her quality of life is rapidly deteriorating. A new heart would be her salvation. Simon's heart.

Urgent choices and their consequences form the basis of the film adaptation of the novel 'Recovering the Living' by Maylis de Kerangal. Director Katell Quillévéré knows how to show life that both ends and begins in a modest and impressive way.
